The situation is complicated by the fact that ski slope lighting involves installing equipment in areas with complex terrain. Ski Trail Lighting Standards
LED and metal halide floodlights are used to illuminate the ski slope. Depending on the features of the facility, the equipment is located on the ground or on masts, which are installed in a checkerboard pattern, the light flow goes in the direction of the descent. The height of the masts reaches 30-50 meters.
When lighting ski trails, factors related to visual comfort and safety are taken into account:
- Target purpose: ski jump or slalom slope;
- Level of athletes' training: beginners, amateurs, professionals;
- Features of the slope: length, width, angles;
- Need for photo and video shooting.
All of the above conditions are met with proper lighting of the ski trail. When deciding on lighting technology, the established lighting standards at ski resorts and slopes are taken into account.
- The minimum lighting level for the lift and common areas is 20-30 lux.
- For the slope itself, especially if competitions are held on it, the minimum value increases to 100 lux.
- To ensure high-quality photo and video shooting or live TV broadcasting, the illumination intensity increases to 1200 lux.
- Lighting of the slope for technical (emergency) maintenance should be at least 10 lux.

- Ski slope lighting should be bright enough for athletes to see in front of them and react obstacles and changes in the track terrain.
