LED Lighting for a Furniture Store

A furniture shopping center requires a well-thought-out lighting concept that will make the space comfortable, safe, and compliant with regulations and standards. In addition, professionally organized lighting helps to increase sales.

Interior lighting solves 4 problems:

  1. Provides light for visitors and store employees;
  2. Favorably emphasizes the advantages of exhibition samples;
  3. Provides an atmosphere of coziness and comfort, helping customers better understand how the furniture will look in a home environment;
  4. Unobtrusively zones the interior space, optimizing the distribution of customer flows in the store.

Fossa Electric implements turnkey lighting projects for furniture centers. The service includes design, manufacture and delivery of the necessary lighting equipment, installation and commissioning.

For the customer's convenience, lighting designers prepare a 3D project. Three-dimensional computer visualization simulates the future lighting of the furniture complex. The project specifies the types of lamps, their actual location and characteristics.

Lighting engineers develop projects taking into account the features of the furniture being sold (upholstered, cabinet, for the kitchen, for the office, for the home), while in each zone they create lighting that competently emphasizes the advantages of a certain type of furniture.

Interior lighting – This is an effective marketing tool that can increase sales and encourage customers to buy.

The tasks of lighting in a furniture store

The lighting in a furniture showroom should create a single harmonious space that provides comfort for customers, helps to create the right workspace for staff, and draws attention to the furniture displayed in the room.

  • Separate areas of the retail space are designated with accent lighting, for example, warm light is more suitable for the area with upholstered furniture, creating an atmosphere of comfort, and cold light is more suitable for the area with office furniture, creating a sense of an effective workspace.
  • Furniture stores also use decorative lighting. Decorative lighting acts as an element of the design of the shopping center, creating a complete image of the trading floor.
  • Light in the sales areas is needed not only for work, but also for safety. This concerns the designation of emergency and evacuation exits, emergency lighting.

Fossa Electric takes into account all of the above points when designing, creating a unified conceptual style, taking into account standards and regulations.

Principles of designing lighting in a furniture store

For furniture stores, correctly selected color rendering is important, so we use LED lamps with a high index: Ra≥90.

3 main types of lighting:

  • Diffused - general light, in a warm range, which perfectly emphasizes the texture of wooden furniture. If the salon specializes in selling plastic or metal products, the light temperature shifts towards neutral or cold shades.
  • Accent - is used to demonstrate the goods on display. We use track-type lamps or on a busbar, which allows you to change the angle of illumination in the desired direction.
  • Decorative - is not taken into account when calculating the general level of illumination in the hall. For decorative lighting we use LED strips, chandeliers, built-in lamps, sconces.

For large shopping centers, the lighting level is calculated individually for each functional zone:

  1. Entrance groups;
  2. Atriums and lobbies;
  3. Retail premises;
  4. Escalators;
  5. Crossings and corridors;
  6. Staff rooms;
  7. Utility rooms;
  8. Food courts;
  9. Toilets.

In accordance with the requirements of SanPiN, the minimum lighting level in the store must be at least 800 lux. To highlight individual products, you can use brighter lighting.

Types of Lighting

Lighting for a furniture store is selected not only taking into account the features of the room, but also the products on display.

  • For example, if the room displays furniture with glossy facades, too bright lighting will create annoying glare, so powerful lamps will not work.
  • If you are selling upholstered furniture with dark upholstery, some of the light will be absorbed by the material, so bright lighting is required.
  • If the showroom offers classic furniture, interior lighting is done with low-power spotlights.

For outdoor lighting of a furniture center, we offer architectural facade lighting. Bright dynamic or stylish contour lighting will make the building recognizable and highlight it against the background of the surrounding buildings. Architectural decorative lighting can also be arranged in the atrium of a furniture complex, creating a memorable appearance for the entire center.
