For example, ultraviolet light is harmful to painting: short light waves create intense lighting. In museums, it is better to use the infrared spectrum, but it worsens visual perception.

- With flat objects, we use accent lighting, which is provided by focused beams. Separating the illumination intensity of objects creates the desired contrast, dividing the composition into dark and light zones.

Features of art gallery lighting
Gallery lighting plays an important role in creating an atmosphere and shaping the perception of works of art. Here are some features of exhibition lighting:

- The choice of color temperature of lighting affects the perception of paintings. Warm shades such as 2700-3000K are often used to create a cozy and pleasant atmosphere.
- It is necessary to maintain an optimal level of illumination of paintings in galleries. Typically, this is 50-100 lux for oil paintings and 150-200 lux for watercolors.

Illumination standards are regulated by the requirements of SNiP and SanPiN. The choice of light depends on the material from which the art object is made:
- Fabric, paper, watercolor - 50 lux;
- Oil paint - 150 lux;
- Metal and precious stones - 500 lx.
IMPORTANT. Even with gentle light, exhibits cannot be displayed permanently. The recommendations for museum workers include a clause stating that exhibits should be given a break every 3 years.
